I would like you to write a two page business letter – one which uses headers, bullet points, and other appropriate formatting devices – on the following topic:

Your company, Sunshine Shoe Shine, has a communication problem. For years, you have used a top-down management style to communicate information between higher and lower levels of the company. In your letter, you are to imagine that you have recently been promoted to CEO of Sunshine Shoe Shine. You are writing a general letter to all your employees letting them know that the company is going to shift into a Total Quality Management system. You need to explain the benefits of this system, and how it will be implemented in the company. To do this, I want you to explain how Total Quality Management will make all three major channels of communication easier for employees, and how it will also help people become more comfortable with new kinds of communication technology, such as e-mail and text messaging.

To do this assignment, I would review the readings we did on "downward" communication and Total Quality Management. I would also review the sections on the three major channels of communication, and how to write a business letter.
