Arguments:
1) What kinds of arguments are there?
2) How do we win an argument?
3) People argue in different ways.
4) We can argue different things:
a. Fact: Verifiable
b. Opinion: Judgement based on facts
c. Belief: Judgement based on personal or cultural values
d. Prejudice: Opinion based on unexamined evidence
5) Once we know what we are going to argue, we need to know that there are different ways we can support out arguments
a. Fact; Verifiable
b. Statistics: Fact in number form
c. Specific Example
d. Expert Opinion
e. Appeal to beliefs and needs
6) Now that we know a little about the different kinds of arguments, we can begin to think about the kinds of arguments we can put together. Let’s go to page 276!
